Malum

I found this website 'Malum' the work is fab, but the actual website got my attention with the plasticine layout. It popped into my head that what if i made people out of plasticine?

So i had a bash..

What do you think?

Using my USP & Ideas.

Looking at this image i found on google, made me want to try something a similar in ink. I thought it would be appropriate to my brief.

I tried these ideas, may use them in my final.

These ideas i used with tissue paper and ink. I tried to associate death by using red ink.

This idea was used by referring to the image above.

Websites/Social Networking

I decided to look at websites that i could advertise my design on. Social networking is a highly used method to get in touch with friends, being such a popular method of communication, it might be wise to go this route? Try digital advertising, i looked at some websites to try and get a glimpse of the idea.

Facebook is social networking site used by 175 million people all over the globe, the majority of the users are the age group i am looking for, so this might possibly be a good candidate if i did decide to go for over the web.

Myspace is a more 'college aged' category. Mainly used by females rather than males. A lot of images are uploaded onto this site, making this another option. The target audience might not be correct.

I have never used Twitter, so personally i cannot really say what it is like, i do believe it is another networking site, mainly used by status updates. This might not be an ideal website to use.

Lydia.

Lydia is a graphic designer and has this website to show her designs. She deals with brochures, book
design, identity, logos etc. I found her work very interesting to look at. It made me realize there are more options than a poster.

Here is some off her work.

'tdr vs warp'

'The White Pinecone'
'The Hailstorm'

We<3It.

WeHeartit is a website created by 'Fabio Giolito' and is a social bookmarking website that you can upload images and videos onto whenever you find things you like.

Here are some images i found that i adore and will consider in my design work, this website is one of the best i've seen yet.

(Click the numbers for the links 1-2-3-4)

I believe all of these designs have a USP.

Leisure

My target audience is aimed at 18-25 year olds and i am guessing that they will have time to spare. I need to consider the activities this age group like as it may help me in my brief.

After asking a few students i found these were the main interests/hobbies - Swimming, Bowling & Nightclubbing. I asked why these and they said it was cheap, easy to get to and fun.

WGSN - Preferred Colours

Going back onto the WGSN site, i looked at other colours available in palettes. These are what i looked at the most and what i thought might be on interest to the brief.

'Flourish'
(All images are from the website WGSN.)

'Ersatz'

'Illusory'

"Mere colour, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways."
-Oscar Wilde.

WGSN-EDU

WGSN is a website that works along side Universities and Colleges. The website posts articles that are relevant to students such as 'Think tank', 'Materials' and 'Trends.' By going into the 'Trends' section i can go to the 'colour palette' which i can look at to help me with this brief.

Colour Palette.

"Colour for Autumn/Winter 2009/10 is a season of extremes - from light to dark, natural to high tech, traditional to modern and hand made to mass-produced.
Underpinning this approach to the season is a layer of atmospheric light. It lifts and surprises, enhancing colour tones across every palette."

Pinks/Neutrals.

Interests.

I went back onto the 'Acorn' website to get some findings on 18-25 year olds interests. This again will help me towards my blog as some extra information to take on board.

I have found a lot of 18-25 year olds enjoy fashion, theatre, magazines and sports from looking at this finding. I also asked a few fellow students who live in student accommodation what there interests are. (Still in progress...)

Financial information.

I have looked into my target audience's financial matter, interests and employment. I believe students would be more of the cafe/restaurant services such as waitressing/waiter. Another would be behind tills in local clothes shops and supermarkets such as 'Topshop', 'Asda' and 'Sainsburys.'

(Google images.)
(Here for the link.)

(Here for the link.)

The financial matter i looked at a geo-demographic website called 'Acorn' which you can find financial, behavior and population.

Here are some findings towards my brief which will help me along the way.
(From the website 'Acorn.')

To Look At.

These are from the blog "To Look At." I have already mentioned before but i think this category suits them also. Very interesting to look at which is what i want to gain in my own work for this brief. A good sight to look at, would love to get my hands on this book, definitely a USP.

Who & Where?

My target audience is aimed at 18-25 year olds which i assume is more students and their jobs involving 'ballpoint pens' which would be office jobs and schools.
I have looked at student accommodation and the jobs mentioned above.

I believe this sort of environment would include use of the 'ballpoint pens.'

NHS.

Here i have chosen some designs made by the NHS which i believe is a USP. They are extremely strong and they are my favourite adverts out at the minute, simple and straight forward. I am wanting to gain this in my design for my chosen statistic.

Here are some recent ad campaigns from the NHS.
